Marcus Porcius Cato, also known as Cato the Censor (Latin: Censorius), the Elder and the Wise, was a Roman soldier, senator, and historian known for his conservatism and opposition to Hellenization.

Reportedly all, or at least many, of his speeches he held before the roman council, he ended with the words "Carthago delenda est", or "Carthage must be destroyed."
